Gary,
All things being equal, I would go with the lightest 60hp engine you can hang on it... I do not feel though that a 150 with a 40hp filled with a few heavy weights (though could get on a plane if propped correct) would give you the performance you are use to having with your present 60.

So what is wrong with the present 60? Re-powering a hull that has a working engine (I assume it still runs) is usually not very cost effective in the long run unless you are going to be putting a lot of hours on that hull and are gaining a lot less fuel burn at the same time.
