Rust under the"Glob"
I have a small problem with my 2004 210 and I wonder if anyone else has this one.
Looking into the deck inspection door to the bilge pump area there is a lot of rust stains that appear to be coming from under the “glob” of sealant on the center rib. I understand this "glob" covers the stainless steel plate on the center rib. The area on each side of the rib holds water due to height of bilge pump and placement of hull drain plug.
I have also noticed that the water draining from my self-installed transom drain plug has produced a rusty stain on the transom and trailer and never stops. So this means water is leaking into the hull from around the plate. Right?
My question, how have other folks cured this? I plan to dig out the factory sealant and start over unless advised otherwise.
Has anyone contacted the factory about a problem of this nature? How can I stop the water from standing in these areas?
