The motor is 2-stroke Yamaha 50TLRA. I am not sure yet if I'll need a switch, just checking on availability. I did a stupid thing of which I will be ashamed for a long time, but maybe some one will take a note of it. While connecting the battery, I didn't see the red positive wire, it fell down. But I saw one black wire and one one black wire with red insulation. Thinking it was +, I connected black to - and black with red to +. Sure enough, they are both -
I know, I called myself all those names when the smoke started coming from the concole. All ground wires coming to and from the ignition switch are either gone or the insulation is burned. I have not assessed the extent of the damage yet. I realize I shorted the battery. So far I checked tilt and trim, bilge pump. They work. Not sure about the switch, electrical parts on the motor, gauges. Any idea? Please, refrain from direct insults :-)
