Mark, get multiple bids for the driveway. Right now is a BAD time to have construction work done, at least in California. Everyone's overworked as it is. The bids are high since they don't need the extra work and can cherrypick the high bids.

If you're not getting your boat right away, a good time for small project construction is between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Lots of guys are looking for "side jobs" to pick up Christmas cash.
