These are the drain plugs I want to replace. You are right, when the boat is on the trailer they can be hard to reach. I made a tool that solves the problem.

I cut a slot in one end of a 1 inch diameter aluminum rod. The slot fits over the flat protrusion on the plugs. In the other end of the rod, I drilled a 9/32 diameter hole. To tighten, or loosen the plug I place one end on the plug and insert a screwdriver thru the hole on the other end. Push the rod against the plug and turn the screwdriver. Works like a charm.

The plugs are simpler to get in and out, but they still leak. I'm going to contact Dick and get the stainless steel replacement units.
