Thanks for the reply. I spoke with Russ of Triumph, and he suggested I compress the transom bracket with c-clamps. I took two clamps and squeezed the bracket, leaving enough room for the motor to fit between them. After tightening the c-clamps, the motor slid right on. Next, I tightened the motor clamps and then removed the c-clamps. Problem solved, but I'm not crazy about the idea of needing c-clamps to get the motor off and on. I'm hoping that after a season of the motor compressing the bracket, it might hold shape and I won't need the clamps next time.
