enough already --all sides
Just a few observations from someone that has owned a new 2001 Q1 186 bay and currently owns a 2001 Q2 210cc and is poor as dirt to boot!!
i consider these entry level boats as well, but where triumph screwed up is they should have taken over the small size boat market years ago with cheap price boats and lots of them rather than trying to make all the investment back up overnight---but that's how irwin does business. after all , genmar is what 10 glass boat brands to 1 plastic--that would have gone over like ,well you know. triumph should have become a household name rather than 10 glass boat division"s whipping boy.
every model year has for the most part improved over the previous year. a perfect example i can relate to is they had to go away from the 80 gallon fuel tanks once the heavier 4 strokes came on the scene cause it was just too much weight on the rear of the boat. if i ever have to go below the deck for any reason, i will change my 80 to something smaller and then i can improve my livewell drain and add another bilge pump, and, and. this is where others on the hind truth dont get it, those of us that are poor or just like to know our vessels from stem to stern are able to modify say a 2001 210 cc such as mine to the current specs if i so choose to and with tremendous savings to boot over the price of a new vessel . some of us actually like to improve what we have ,with the key word being improve.there should actually be some money paid to owners who in the past made improvements that the factory may have "borrowed"!! i would not have any fingers if i had done all the things i have done to my 210cc on a fiberglass boat---they would be cut to pieces and i would be dieing of resin lung as well!! all kidding aside, i am not going to say that there are not problems, actually there are with certain models of certain years. however, every owner that has had a problem and went thru a reputable dealer or were forced to refer back to the factory has had their major problems addressed.
i have also seen the factory do in my opinion stupid stuff like draining the fishboxes into the bilge rather than tieing them all together with a maceator pump and overboard discharge the fishy boxes. again it falls back to and i have to agree with you somewhat ,that for the extra money ,that would have been the best way to handle the floor box water/drain issue. i do wish and if they had any sense they should have owners meetings as much as dealers meetings and they should be reading and listening to what we say and have a place where owners can give input into how the boats are made and maintained. we have the pratical knowledge of how these boats perform dayin and day out whereas the engineers only know how to look at a computer screen and see if point a will meet point b.
for the money and that is what it all boils down to, you will not find a dryer riding, softer riding, easier to maintain , easiest to modifyand make improvements to boat and i rode in everything 21 feet and under in 2001.
in closing i will go so far to say that i havent found a better brand of boat to go up against my 210cc and this boat doesnt even have a factory warranty for it and, i will never step foot onboard a century brand again and it my friend has all the bells and whistles yet left me almost crippled from a 2ft chop beating i will never forget!!!!!
