What do you think about Triumphowners.net so far?

Triumph boat owners and dealers continue to find us and we continue to grow. The site went online in mid-November 2004 and as of today we have 259 members. Not bad!

I want to say a special thank you to Dick Cabble at Merritt Marine for his contributions in our Tech Talk forum. And to Vic McMurray and Kevin Belcher for volunteering to serve us as moderators of the forums. Thank you guys!

And, I want to thank all of our members for choosing to participate on the Triumphowners.net site. There are a number of our members that have never posted yet and I hope you'll do so in 2005. Come on, jump in, the water is fine and you'll be hard pressed to find a nicer bunch of folks than those on this board.

I anticipate a great 2005 for fishing, boating and enjoying our Triumph Boats. I've enjoyed your posts, your tips and mod's, your humor and your support in 2004. And I really enjoy the photos. Keep 'em coming guys and let's get more of our Triumph brethren online with us.

Hey Randy, great job with the new site.
I have two questions.

I liked to log into the chat room and have it open while I cruise the site. It worked like that before but now when I click somewhere else I get logged out. Is there a button or setting I missed?

Also, can you explain the difference between “member” and “junior member”?

Thanks
JR

Hey JR. Glad you like it. The new site has many more features that we'll use. I had the chat opening in a separate browser window before and now that I know you liked that I'll reprogram the new site to do the same. Good idea! Be sure when you leave the chat room to click on the RED button in the upper right hand window. This logs you out of the chat room so your name doesn't stay in the "Member is Chat" window on the main page.

Member titles are based on the number of post made. Currently it is set like this:

Junior member - less than 30 posts
Member - 30-99 posts
Senior Member - 100 or more posts

I'm open to changing the numbers, changing the titles or doing away with the titles. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Randy

Randy,
It works the same. I log into the chat then click back to the forum and get logged out of the chat.

Is it opening a separate browser window? It should and you should be able to leave that one open while browsing the site on your original browser window.

I've changed the titles to the following:

New Member - less than 15 posts
Member - 15-99 posts
Senior Member -100 or more posts

And become a "Captain's Club Member" by supporting our site at a cost of $25/year.

Time warp

I am curious as to the time difference on posts. I am sitting here at 5:35 pm and I see posts that say today 6:18 pm. I also notice that my welcome message shows that I was on at 9:18 pm yesterday but I know I was on around 5 pm. I know the clock on my computer is correct. What gives?

Good question Dave. The computer that hosts our system is set to Eastern time (cause that's where I live and I pay the bills ). In your User Options you can select the time that you want displayed on your system. To make sure your time is correct do this.
  1. Select "User CP" from the naviagation menu bar above.
  2. Select "Edit Options"
  3. Select "Time Zone" in the Date and Time Options and choose your time zone and if Daylight Savings Time is to be automatically detected.
  4. Check your other settings in Edit Options while you're at it. For instance you can turn on the subscription feature to automatically receive an email when someone posts to a thread that you have started or responded to. Very convenient if you want to use it.

If you've done all that and still have a time problem let me know. I'll see if something else could be going on. Works like champ here in North Carolina though.
