I spoke with Rick from Triumph today. He waited to call me after their weekly staff meeting. Everything is a go. So, far, this is what he has set up...

The tour will go from about 11-1 on Saturday, September 16, 2006. (Some of the higher level staff were a bit concerned becaused they don't work on Saturdays. We won't see the boats actually being made. However, Rick is going to have some of the employees there to help explain the process)

He will have the event catered. He hasn't selected who will do the food but he said he will take care of this.

He is going to get some of the dealers involved. Of course Merritt Marine will be involved and I suggested Portside Marine also. He is going to take care of contacting both of the dealers.

Triumph will have some "door prizes" and will give away hat and T-shirts. I was also thinking that the dealers might want to have some "freebies". I mentioned this to him and he said he will broach the subject with them. (Dick, I know you read this site everyday...so I am putting you on notice...We want some free stuff )

Rick is very excited to show us the factory and discuss Triumph Boats. He is very pleased that we have such an interest in wanting to see the factory and see how our great boats are constructed.

Please, if anybody has any suggestions or comments email or PM me.

Do we think this should be longer than 2 hours?

What kind of food would you like to have?

Are there any questions anybody might have for the factory? (I can compile them and send them to Rick and maybe he can address them at function. Please don't turn this into bash session of the boats as I won't even send that to them.)

What would you like to get out of this function?

Well, I think that's enough for now.

Kevin

The BBQ food that they provided at the MackFest was great but I think that may have been local.

I'd like to see the mold for the 230 if possible?? I heard that it takes four hours to "cook a boat" so I can see why that's not an option.

Are there any videos availible? I heard about one of a Triumph running 3/4ths up on a dock with no damage someone had mentioned seeing at a dealer.

I'm driving 8 hours, so anything over a 2 hour tour would be great.

Bullocks BBQ in Durham is only about a mile or so away from the Triumph Factory. They cater and have excellent BBQ and trimmings.

Exclamation update the poll vote!

Tarheel asked me to redo the factory tour poll to get a better idea of who is actually coming. Bottom line we need a headcount.

I had the following members indicating in the previous poll that they were coming: armychap, AstroDiver, bigmall, fridaysoff, frito, Illogical GGC, k9reno, NCangler, NCBuck, rtilley and SUCHFUN.

These members indicated they maybe coming: 210cc, 4greg, Cajun-T, chiledawg, daveh, Davey, DeerHunter, dick@merrittmarine, jferras, Kevin, mmoon, My Half, Putershark, special K, tarheelborn66 and unkl jessie.

Please recast your poll vote and let me know if I need to move you from one of these lists to the other. ALSO, if you are going to be bringing friends or family please post a reply in the thread letting us know how many adults/kids will be attending so we can plan accordingly for food, etc. Looking forward to the time together and seeing how our boats are made!

Since it's such a long drive for me, about eight hours, I've decided to make a long weekend out of this event. I'm taking two vacation days off, Friday & Monday and doing some camping. I just have to figure out where? Map time! The boat will not be involved on this trip but my slide in camper will.
Looking forward to the event.

Tarheel , Randy
I owe you both a big Sorry. Having 21 yrs of seniority I didnt figure I would have any trouble getting the time off for the Factory tour. I have not had 5 days denied in the last 15yrs, but this is the third time in a row I got denied on some of the days I put in for. I got approved for the 11th thru 15th but could not get the 16 or 17th. I will still be coming to Durham that week so I can pick up my baot from Merritt. I was really hoping to tour the factory, but now I have to leave on the 15th at the latest. Well maybe I can get in on a tour of the factroy some other time.
Sorry we have to pull out

Armychap and K9reno - I am sorry that you will not be able to make it. If they will let me, I will take some pictures and post them on here for everybody, who couldn't make it, to check out.
