Chat Rooms...check it out!

I installed a new Chat program called "FlashChat". You will see the link icon for it above between "Memberlist" and "Profile". This chat program is integrated with our membership database so if you are logged in to the forums then you're logged in to FlashChat by just entering the room. I set it up to open in a new window so you can keep browsing the forums while carrying on a chat session with other users. Well, maybe you can do that I'm not sure I can. :>

NOTE: There is a red button in the upper right hand corner of the chat room. This is the "Logout" button. Be sure to logout when leaving the Chat rooms or you may stay logged in. You'll still be logged into the rest of the site. This just exits you from the Chat rooms. I was carrying on a coversation this morning with someone who was no longer there. (Scary I know).

NOTE: FlashChat requires Macromedia Flash Player 7. If you don't have Flash Player 7 go to this address to download and install it for free for the operating system you are using on your computer.

http://www.macromedia.com/downloads/

If you have any questions or problems just email me.

Randy

The new chat works just fine Randy. Mark and I had a nice long chat last night and fully tested the puppy :P

One thing to note, is many times I log in and mark myself as being away aka BRB so guys you may want to take note of a person's status (listed beside their name) before thinking they are ignoring you.

Tight Lines !

Thanks for the update Putershark. I really like this Chat application. you have the option of creating a new chat room when online and it can be 'Public' or 'Private'. If you click on a username of someone else in the Chat rooms you have the option of inviting them to another room. This is handy if you want to speak with one or more members privately or just want to start another line of discussion.

I hope more users will try it out. Hey Putershark, maybe you could organize a one-night "chat fest" inviting as many members as can be there to discuss an array of topics. If you want to try something like this and want to add other permanent Chat room titles, let me know what you want to call them. The rooms uers create when online go away when their chat session is over. The only permanent rooms right now are the ones you see when entering the Chat program.

Lightbulb PM's, Chat Room's, Buddies and stuff

Hi all. I wanted to mention that if you enter one of the Chat Rooms be sure to click on the Red button in the upper right corner of the Chat window when you are ready to leave the Chat. That will correctly log you out of the Chat, but you'll still be logged into the rest of the site. If you don't exit by clicking the Red button then the system may think you're still in there even after you've left the site, and we'd hate to send someone in there to check on you only to find out you're already gone.

Also wanted to mention that if you find members that you know (or think you might) share something in common with (like Saltwater fly fishing for instance) you can add them to your "Buddy List". Just click on a post that they've made or go their profile in the User Control Panel (User CP) or the 'Member List' and select the button to add them to your buddy list. You'll notice on the main page that your buddy list will show if any of them are online. If you then click on their username you can send them a Private Message to join you in the Chat or just to say hi.

There are alot of cool features built into this site, so experiment, then go fishing, and come back and tell us about it.
