Question Should Triumphowners.net photos be watermarked?

The question has come up as to whether we should watermark members photos posted on this site with a Triumphowners.net logo or copyright notice to avoid them being used on other sites without the photo owners permission. I have attached a poll where you can voice your opinion on the matter. I did not setup watermarking of images on this site as I really didn't think it would be an issue. But maybe we should try to protect images uploaded here for their intended purpose. What do you think?

I 100% agree, they should be marked to stop any present or future abuse.

I am good with it. If someone would like to use my photos they can ask. I am very easy to work with and would probibly be willing to give them the unedited file if I agree with the use.

I agree with k9reno. Most anyone on this site will try to help others. If I agree with the purpose, I can always e-mail an unedited file.

If they want to show how good my boat is I do not care, but some us post pics with our family and friends. Keep them here for us.

As a professional photographer, I would agree to the watermark. I do that on my company website. As others have said, I would be more than happy to allow use of my photos with my approval of the use. Of course it will cost them.

Okay, how does this watermark look? I could turn on an "on the fly" watermark that would not affect the original image uploaded but we'd have to turn off the ability for folks to save an image because the original could be directly linked to. So if I watermark the images they will all be permanently done like this. Let me know if you think this looks okay and I'll hold a few days before starting watermarking.

Randy,

I don't know what kind of software you are running, but how about an opaque diagonal watermark? Think that would work?? It kind of allows you to see the whole picture, but stops copywrite enfringement. (sp)

i'm all for the watermark however the "damage" has been done by a THT member posting falsified captions on at least 1 of my pics that was copied from our site.

i'm all for the pretty as well as the problem pics being here for all of us to be aware of . change can only come when enough o the same issues keep coming up and ----------i wish i had never gone over to that site eventho i have taken their abuse since '01

i'm ok now!!!

Dave, if you know of a site that has an example of what you're describing could you email me a link and I'll see what I can do. Thanks!
