Thumbs up Update on the TBOT...

Hi folks. We are approaching this years Triumph Boat Owners Tournament a little looser than years past. The idea is for folks to get together, have a good time and hopefully catch some fish. It can be a challenging time of year weather wise, but let's hope this year is a good one.

The host for this years event is Portside Marina in Morehead City, NC. A special thank you to Denard Harris and his family and staff for inviting us back again! The host hotel is the Comfort Inn in Morehead City (252.247.3434). Please let them know that you are attending the Triumph Boat Owners Tournament with Portside Marina to get their best group rate.

We are thinking this year that we won't bother with pre-registration but if you could let us know in this forum if you are coming and how many folks will be fishing with you, it will help plans for our meal together. The Captains meeting will take place on Friday evening at Portside Marina at around 7PM with light refreshments and finger food snacks along with good old fashion fellowship.

Fishing can start as soon as the Captains meeting is over on friday night and the stop time is 3:00PM Ssaturday with the scales closing at 5:00PM. We will have a Saturday night cookout awards dinner around 6:30PM.

Categories will be by fish species for King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel and Flounder at $50 per species with largest fish winning all the money in that category. We can have an optional Calcutta for each species as well. This can be decided at the Captains meeting Friday night.

I will list the Triumph Dealers of the Carolinas soon that will be participating in sponsoring the event along with Triumph Boats and Portside Marina. Here is the address and contact information for Portside Marina:
209 Arendell St. - Morehead City, NC 28557
(252) 726-7678

I hope many of you can attend!

Randy
I just made my reservations at the Comfort Inn. They dont have many rooms left, but it is a nice place as it is where I stayed when I came down for tobt in 05 and 06. My son is counting the days and the only thing that would make this better is if I can find a third to help split the cost of gas to get there.

See you in July

Randy,

Man I can't catch a break. My son and I were going to spend $500 apiece to come down and fish the TBOT
this yr, but I got shafted again. My son had been planing and told his leave would most likely be the first half of July starting some time in the frist week.
I made my reservations and he got all excited for the trip and then the army messed things up. They changed his leave to Jluy 17 thru aug 5. Now I cant afford to come down and fish the get together again this yr. That makes two yrs in a row. I love fishing the ocean but can't make it.
The only positive note is that we may be able to take a couple days and come down late in the month for a couple days instead. At least we would get to fish.

I need to retire and move closer to the coast or get a new job. well maybe next yr.

Sorry to hear that you won't make it Dick, but I sure understand. If you do head this way later let me know and maybe we can buddy up with a friend of mine to put you on some fish.

I think I will start a poll on the TBOT to see how many folks are planning to come. We got a very late start on promoting this and if we only have a handful of folks coming I may push for doing something later in the year. Any thoughts?

I would love to come, but the family and I will be on vacation that week. If it gets rescheduled for later in the year, then count me in!

tournament

Living on the west coast and the ridiculous fuel prices will keep me in Mexico awhile longer. The tournament sounds interesting. Maybe when gas gets back under two dollars a gallon.

I wish I could find a way to be there...

...Nothing would make me happier than to join all of you! Really sorry that I cannot be there.
Randy, the Chaos is bottom-painted, looks great and goes in this Saturday and won't come back out until sometime in October after the Fall striper run.
