My biggest issue to date has to be the overall deck water tightness of my 190, out of the gate. Since day one, the hatches, specifically the forward bow hatches/gaskets, leak like mad after a rain over 2". I have to pump out 15-20 gallons of water per stowage locker.

Mind you, I keep my boat in the water 9 months of the year. So it's in the elements all the time.

My suggestion for the gaskets would be to widen them from 1" to 3". This would compensate for the horizontal and vertical inconsistencies in the compartment "lip" where it meets the existing gasket/hatch cover. The water "pools" in the drainage groove around the lip, then overflows into the bow hatch.

Thanks.

The only issue to date so far with my 215 is the cooler mount popped off the first week on the water. The screws securing the mount to the cooler were too small to get a good enough grip. With ice and all the weight allowed the screws to pop right out.
Did not take it back to the dealer although they did tell me to bring it in. I took 1/4 inch aluminum plates 3 X 6 ish and drilled holes to match the mounts and bolted the mount to the cooler with the plate on the inside of the cooler. Of course sealing with silicone. Looks a little rigged and you don't want to shove your hand into the ice without first looking but it is functional - so far.
Other than that no other issues so far...........

When my 195CC is sitting in the water in my slip, it doesn't slope to the stern. This is a problem because the water doesn't train into the bilges efficiently and tends to "pool" on the deck. After hosing it down I have to stand on the back and bounce around. While I appreciate the opportunity for exercise I can't help feeling like this is a design flaw. The 195CC should be designed (like all boats) to drain into the bilges when it is sitting still in the water.

Another smaller issue with the 195 is the handles on the back of the center console seats. They are plasctic and one of them broke off after only a few hours on the boat. They should be more sturdy. I've also seen posts on this site saying the mechanism for rotating the seats gets stuck up by the salt water. I've been using WD-40 once in a while and haven't had that issue yet myself but it's cleary something they should fix.

Overall I'm really happy with my 195CC (very soft ride!) but these are some issues that the factory should fix for the next year.

Picked up my 2006 170CC in March 2007. 1.2 hours on the clock. 23 hours on the clock today. Finally diagnosed a fuel problem as a cracked pickup tube. Factory customer service said they had had a recall on that part. My suggestion would be to have recalls addressed before boats are delivered to customers. Better tracking? Only other issues are fit and finish.
  1. Cutout in the bottom of the console interferes with the cutout in the deck by about 2". My suggestion, use templates to mark these cutouts so the cutouts match and the cables going through the cutouts are not pinched. Perhaps a QC check of the molded bare console (outsourced?) before installation.
  2. The helm cushion rubbed the frame in one corner and had a hole in the upholstery after the drive home. Removed the screws that hold the seat cushion centered, moved it over and redrilled the holes. Leaning post tube has rubbed a groove (~.030" deep) in the frame tube. My suggestion, have a QC check of the seat assembly (I assume they outsource it) at receiving and after assembly. Simple adjustments could be effected at that time = higher customer satisfaction.
  3. The rail on the console never really tightens up. The area around the mounts (4) had been reworked with some poly filler, but there are other areas that you can see pinholes of daylight through. I will be reinforcing this problem before the season is over. If the Admiral goes in the drink with the rail in her hands, I might as well put the new boat up for sale. Once again, a QC check of the bare molded console may have caught this. Or if there was some assembly diversion path that could direct these boats that need some extra attention to a rework area.
  4. The daisy-chaining of the power lines to the circuit breakers meant that two ring terminals had to be screwed to each tab on the breaker. The screws are very short and it appeared on a couple that so much pressure was applied to get the screw started that the tabs got bent, which lead to distorted threads that caused stripped threads. When I got a replacement breaker for one that was dead-on-arrival, it had push-on tabs. My suggestion, the push-ons allow the use of fully insulated female terminals. If one of these is pulled off (or gets pulled off) it has pretty good protection from a short. The wiring harnesses could incorporate multiple leads with these terminals to distribute the power to breakers or a true distribution block could be used. My other suggestion, better tracking of components used so that replacement parts can be used without "customizing" of the boat.
Thanks for the forum to post these "nit-picks". We should proudly display "Worlds Toughest Boats" not apologize for the little things that aren't working on it when we have guests.

Although I am new to the forum and having a triumph, I do spend a lot of time on the water. Since my purchase a month ago, my boat has over 50 hours on it and is currently back down at the dealer getting some more things added as well as some warranty work performed.

One suggestion I do have, that I spoke with the factory about is why can't these boats have a thru- hull transducer. Is it possible that I am alone being the only one that is not satisfied with a transom mount ducer. I do have top notch gear, and yes it is installed properly. Just a frustration I would love to see remedied.

The fit and finish is not so great as has been mentioned and pretty much beat up on the board. I know plastic will deflect in heat and sun, but when lids don't close properly to after the first week, there is a problem.

The last thing that really needs some some attention is the coambing pads. The pads tend to come loose and fall off all the time. And the worst part about it is the design consists of any upward pressure and they pop loose. I fish hard, and I fish a lot. So when I am in the harness with my knees against the pads and they are coming loose and popping up, it does begin to get a little frustrating.

My boat and I have fished one shark tourney this year, I am going to fish 3 more. It has been on the water 8 times since I have purchased the boat. I am fishing 3 marlin tourneys also this year, but am not sure if those will be on my rig or not. I usually fish about 75-85 days a year. I love the boat, I love the ride and the whole setup. Some of the little details need to be ironed out though to be truly effective.

Just a reminder again that this thread is for making constructive suggestions on improvements to the boats for Quality Control to take notice of. This thread is not for complaining about what you don't like about your boat or wish it had, etc. Keep comments directed toward what would you improve?

I'd like to see a little more attention spent on examining the hull, particularly the bottom, to ensure that it did not stick to the mold or for any other defects.

The baitwell light on my 215cc was either never installed or fell out. The hoses on the wash-down pump weren't tight and leaked badly when the pump was turned on. That's about it.

215:

1. Install transom plugs at factory. (I put them on a 6 month old boat)
2. The transom voids fill with water...needs to be a better design on the cover or with an access hole. (I put access holes with covers)
3. The satelite radio antena needs to go on top, rather than on the dash. The t-top causes interference. (I moved up top, much better)
4. Drain for rod holders built in.
5. Better trailer lights from EZ loader- their waterproof lights leak. (my next project)
6. Improved scupper design. (I made my own and have no problems, before they would reverse fill into the bilge.)

Great boat, but I hear these problems over and over. If they could address them they would have an even greater boat. Some dealers are not up to speed on the transom drain plugs or do not want to go there.

Anyway my suggestions.
