I love my new boat! I bought a 2006 215CC at the beginning of this year, and now have 22 hours on it.

I have a laundry list of warranty issues that I've had from the beginning, but I've been too busy enjoying boating to bring it in so far. They're all minor, but definitely quality control issues nonetheless:

1) Cross support/handle under mega hatch is cracked next to screw - looks like it may have cracked during initial install.

2) Helm console panel is cracked, again at several points next to screws.

3) Fuel gauge jumps up and down by half a tank, even on dry land.

4) Some fish box gaskets are falling off.

5) Three out of four fix boxes drain poorly, one of which doesn't drain at all.

6) Two of three helm drains barely work, one of which I would describe as a pinhole drain that gets plugged up by a single dust particle.

7) Trailer was completely miswired. It wasn't even close - left turn signal caused running lights to blink, there was no right turn signal, etc. I've already fixed this.

8) Nav light button fell off control panel during second outing. We haven't been out at night yet to use it, so it must have been partially broken already.

I know that's quite a list, but again none of these issues are major. That's why I've been so reluctant to bring the boat in. I'd rather use it!

I'll probably take it in this weekend. I need to repair my skeg anyway, it had a few run-ins with shallow water.

Here are a couple of comments to your list, as some of these problems have been around a while. So I have indicated how I have dealt with them. The ones I didnt comment on are definately Dealer issues

4) Some fish box gaskets are falling off. (while your dealer will fix this, it will continue to happen, just get some elastmeric to glue them back on when it occurs)

5) Three out of four fix boxes drain poorly, one of which doesn't drain at all. (this really is a design issue in my opinion, but untill it is resolved, get yourself some weedeater string and keep it in the boat for cleaning out the blocks)

6) Two of three helm drains barely work, one of which I would describe as a pinhole drain that gets plugged up by a single dust particle. (again, a design issue, as the loops in the tubing can hold water which in turn gunks up and plugs the line, my fix disconnect the tubing and let it drain into the console as it really isnt much water anyways)

7) Trailer was completely miswired. It wasn't even close - left turn signal caused running lights to blink, there was no right turn signal, etc. I've already fixed this.

Cooler Mounts

I have the same issue with the cooler mounts ripping out of the cooler. I took it to the dealer and they said it was not a warranty issue and charged me $75 to fix them. The first day I went out, they all ripped back out. I would take it to the dealer again but its 6 hours round trip, just to drop it off. There needs to be some kind of backing plate so the screws don't pull out.

Bay 190

1) Trolling battery compartment drain needs to be in the lowest part of the box, not the highest.

2) Most of my 2002 issues have already been addressed in newer models and
Triumph has done an excellent job of warranty coverage and no charge
upgrades for my boat. If only we had a Master dealer closer to B'ham, AL.

3) The side scuppers were better placed to clear water, sand and debris out
of the boat whereas the transom scuppers are not in the lowest area in
the transom and you will have to vaccum to clean the boat out.
Mount the transom scuppers in the corners of the transom, add ss screen
to filter what washes into scupper tube if an issue.

4) Use the longest and largest screws sealed with Rule attaching any hinge.

Problems we had with our new boat

Our first experience in our brand new 2007 190 Bay Triumph.

1. At first we noticed the scuppers looked cracked so I went to jiggle one and it crumbled in my hand and the other one was just as bad, it looked like an over tightening issue. The dealer replaced them right away.

2. I also noticed cracks at the hinges of the flip back seats several boats on the lot had the same problem but some did not. The dealer is ordering new ones and will install them at the 10 hr service.

3. When we got our boat in the water we thought we would try out the bait well, it would turn on for a few seconds and then cut off, so I checked the pump and it was cracked and the houseing was cracked letting water into the hull. The windshield was scratched up and when we opened up the bimini it had holes in it.
We took it back to the dealer and they fixed everything. The dealer said the reason the pump housing was cracked was because someone over tightened the screws.

I must say I had no problems with the engine or anything else, the ride was smooth and dry.

There seems to be a quality control issue either at the manufacture or the dealer, and who ever is putting in screws don't put them in so tight.

I know some of these have been mentioned, but they need to be reiterated. The drains on the dash, in the fish holds, and storage boxes all need to be bigger. Most of mine were clogged from the get go. Also the drains for the fish boxes should drain overboard or through the hull. Gallons of tuna blood sloshing around the bilge, in areas that cannot be accessed is a real pain.
The voids in the transom well need to be addressed. I have had several people fishing on my boat and once they get a whiff of the rotten odor emanating from the voids, they get seasick and the day is ruined.
The rod holders need to have drains. I haven't had any real issues but having to shop vac the water out, is a pain.
I mentioned this earlier but there needs to be a backing plate on the cooler mounts. Mine ripped out the first time I had some ice and fish in the cooler. I also would like to see a thicker piece of plastic or Starboard at the bottom of the electronics box. The piece that is in there is too flexible so your electronics constantly bounce around and there is no way to get under there to use bolts and washers.

191FS Trolling motor mount

On my 2007 191FS, I have a built in bow ladder which takes up the space where you would normally mount a trolling motor. It would be nice to have a level spot on the port side of the bow so you could install a trolling motor mount without having to use spacers, etc. By the way, if anyone has a suggestion for mounting a trolling motor on this type of boat I would sure appreciate it.

As mentioned in other threads:

1) Bilge Pump output tube was cracked by overtightened hose clamp. Factory issue.
2) Raw Water Pump leaking. Unsure if it is a pump issue or if it too was cracked by overtightening.
3) Nav Light wiring issue: sometimes the switch works, other times it doesn't. Tightened all connections as best I can. This was an issue from day one.
4) Fish seem to be frightened from the "World's Toughest Boat" and refuse to get even close to it. I suggest that Triumph begin a marketing campiagn aimed at fish that suggests that the boat may be tough but the fisherman on board are "fish friendly".

I love my boat!

I received the following word from Triumph on this issue:
Quote:
We have gone to a better quality pump that is resistant to the chemical reaction between the pump housing and the vinyl hose. Also we have gone to a tournament style aerator pump. It was not the tightening that caused the problem but the reaction between pump and hose.
I would suggest contacting your Triumph dealer for information on the new pumps.

As far as your nav lights go. I have been having problems with mine for the last 2 yrs or so. I thought it was the contacts on the bulb, it turns out it is the wiring inside the light. The white power wire came loose at the soldier point. The contact area is so small my mediocre soldiering skills could not fix it. I put the wire into the contact and tightly wrapped in duct tape. works on and off. Now the other has started the same thing. If I push on the wire on the back of the contact the light goes on.. When I release it goes off. duct tape helped but again it is on and off. The stupid lights are about $70 apiece to replace so I haven't as yet, but need to. So the problem may not be the switch. just a thought.
