PAULGW,
I had a 2004 170CC. If yours has the plastic bilge plugs that you screw in the back try replacing the red rubber washers on the plugs with some good quailty softer washers from any garden suppy store. The softer ones seem to seal better and stopped the leaking on my 170CC. Tighten them pretty firm also. Regular garden hose washers fit.Good luck. JD

I'd like to add that any and all access points to the bilge need to be clear of rigging so as to permit easy and unfettered access.

Not a big deal, but I found it awfully foolish.... When I picked up my 190 and took it out the first day, my friend and I found ourselves kicking the nav light repeatedly. Seems like it only makes sense to move it 6" up off the floor.

gas gage

i dont know about the rest of you guys but with the standared Fairs gages that come on the newer boats its hard to tell how much gas is in the tank even on com waters. the gage bounches around like crazy. couldnt the factory mold baffles in the gas tank to combat some of the wave action that takes place in the tank . the gas gage is just about usless on choppy waters. have any of the rest of you guys had this problem or is something wrong with my gage. its hard to keep a 72 gal. tank full all the time with gas at 3.25 a gal. but i dont want to have less than a half a tank scared i might run out. to me this a safety issue and you would think that triumph would want to fix it.

All of the boats I've owned have been the same way. Gas guages on boats have been notoriously inaccurate. The tanks probably have baffles in them. You are right. The safest way is to keep the tank full and the way gas is going if you fill it up today its surely going to be cheaper than tomorrow.

Quality control?

Ok Randy,

I don't know if this falls under the quality control label, but...

When I removed the guage face plate, I noticed that the cut out on the center console was done rather sloppily. My cat could cut a straighter line. Just looks like poor quality. Of course, if you never remove the panels or work under the CC, you would never notice it. QUALITY IS IN THE DETAILS.

Whenever I need to cut out something in repetition, I build a jig and use the router. You get a perfect cut every time.

Other than that, and some difficulty getting to tight areas. The boat has been great.

another small thing....
the horizontal rod holders should be oppose each other so that the reels don't hit each other.

Not sure if this qualifies as QC but the design on the 195 DC for the transom door. The door itself works for what it is supposed to do, but when I'm cruising along watching my depth and all the sudden I start seeing 2 feet or less I am mainly concearned about getting the motor up and not thinking of the transom door "CRUNCH" unfortunately the latches held their ground and the Cowling did not. Again not sure if this is a QC issue. I'm no Engineer but maybe some sort of break away setup could be implemented.
