Unhappy hose adapter for wash down

I have just returned from the maiden voyage of my new 195 CC. Everything went well, but back at dockside I attempted to use the washdown system. The hose adapter will not fit deep enough to engage the locking mechanism and blows out seconds after the pump is turned on. Unless there is a special trick that I am unaware of, I cannot see how this particular adapter can work. It is a Jabsco unit. Does anyone have any ideas?

From the factory:

You need to make sure that the blue fitting is being locked in place by turning it aprox 1/4 turn clockwise once it is pushed all the way in.

Thanks NCangler. I'm sure that I have tried this procedure, but I will attempt it again this weekend. I will let you know how I make out. Thanks again for the response.

john if i can remember right when i frist got my boat i had the same problem and if i am thinking right i had to take something off the end of the blue fitting thats on the hose so it would go all the way in . my washdown works fine so i guess i didnt need it. it was like maybe a adapter for another type of fitting but it would not work with it on.... looks like you didnt get any paper work on your wasdown eithter.like me

thanks

Thanks glehav, I almost feel kind of stupid that I can't get this simple looking thing to work! From the outside going in, there is the threaded fitting for the hose to attach, the round blue flange, the slot for the tangs to lock into and then the 2"remaining section that has 2 fitted washers. I am going to the boat this weekend and will try again as per the factory response. From what I experienced last weekend, I cannot get the thing to go in far enough in to engage the locking mechanism. Hopefully I can report back that the problem was with me and not the fitting. i'll keep you posted and thanks for your insight.

john i still have the parts i took off at home i will look at them today and see if i cant figuer out what you might need to do and get back with you. too look inside the fitting that the hoes goes into and see if there is anything in it that looks like it would keep the hose fitting from going all the way in there. it might be a plug that was put in there when the pump was shipped... good luck

2nd time lucky

Well, I guess it was the excitement of putting my new boat in the water 2 weeks ago that caused the confusion about making the washdown adapter work. This past weekend I was able to complete the task as per factory instructions, no problem, and gave my boat a quick hose down after fishing. Thanks to all for their suggestions and to Triumph for their tolerance with an excited new owner.
