using t-top for wakeboarding

I have a 190-bay with a t-top and am wondering if I can/should tie a wakeboarding rope to the t-top. Right now I just tie to the transom and my son gets mad because the rope always gets "stuck' in the water. Any advice or experiences would be helpful.

T-Top

Generally speaking, T-Tops are not designed for the kind of loading watersports would place on them. Of course, this depends on the construction of your top also. If you were to try to us your top for this purpose, it would be best to anchor the tow rope to a point near or on the vertical top supports instead of the aft rail.

If you were to try to use the T-top to tow from I would make a bridle attached to the top front portion of the T-top down to the front cleat or better yet to the bow eye. They do this on tournament style ski boats when they use a boom for barefooting. Try to find some type of rope that has very little or no stretch to it.

Tie- Down Strap

The only concern i could think of is over-tightening the strap and damaging the top.
