191 F\S in rough water

I took my wife to a triumph dealer this weekend and be both fell in love with the 191. i live in chicago and I have found people saying the boat is great in rough water but how rough? we get tight packed waves and they pop up quick. the dealer told me the boat would be fine in 6 foot seas but i have a hard time beliveing that.... any info would be great.

Six foot seas aren't the problem...it's the interval that creates chaos. I'll take six footers any day in my 170CC at 30 second intervals. Make that 1 to 2 second intervals and I don't want to be out in 1 footers. Your basic chop is not a problem, but if they are calling for "small craft advisories", better pick a different day.

But, that would go for any boat brand, not just Triumph. I can say this with a completely straight face and clear conscience...the Triumph can handle way more snotty weather/waves than I can. I give up long before I feel "concerned" in my boat. The plastic hull gives and flexes to make your ride much smoother in rougher water than a fiberglass boat does.

If you are concerned about rough water as a norm, perhaps you should look at a 215CC...it has a deeper V hull and is made to handle more "bumpy" water.

Just my 1/50th of a dollar.

I would agree chuck. Our 2005 210 CC (model before 215 CC) has yet to meet the water it could not handle. Me on the other hand, that has a different answer. The hull of the 215 is just made to handle the rougher water better.

Depends I guess on how rough you want to be out in.

Thanks all. I am going to buy the 191 this weekend. I would love to have the 210 but it will not fit in my garage and is a bit over my budget. Plus the wife wants to lay out on the front deck while I fish.

I have had my 191 in what I would consider very rough water here in the Raritan Bay and have had no problems with the windshield. I tend to keep it open almost always and it holds up just fine.
