    Choosing Between 190 Bay CC

Trying to decide about buying a Triumph. Have been a boat owner my whole life except the last five years. I relocated to the Southwest desert but still need to get out on the water. I don't have a problem with the plastic construction of Triumph. Trying to figure out used value from NADA. I am looking at two 190 Triumphs one is 2005 and the other is 2003.

For Triumph NADA includes the value of the engine. They tell you the horsepower but not any of the details like make and 2 or 4 stroke. The 2005 boat has a Merc 150 TLT two stroke Optimax and the NADA book says that a 2005 Triumph 190 has a 150 HP. The 2003 boat has a Suzuki 115 HP 4 stroke and the NADA book says that a 2203 Triumph has a 115 HP. Why the difference in engines and how does NADA seem know what engine is on the boat. Are Triumphs put together as factory packages with the engine installed at the factory? Or do dealers decide what engines to install on these boats. Both boats are being sold for close to the NADA value.

Any opinions as to the years of the boats and engine combos? Is any one combo better then the other? I must say I have never been a huge Suzuki fan but that is probably based on old knowledge. I will be trailering a lot and using it in AZ lakes and the Sea of Cortez. I use the boat to fish, waterski and just plain explore.

Both boats are on Triumph trailers. The 2005 looks like it has been used harder. The bottom of the 2005 hull does have a 1/2 inch deflection in front of the trailer bunks. Is this cause for concern? There is also a definite 1/2 inch indent in the keel where the boat sits on the trailer chock near the forward end. Is this normal? No sign of cracks.

Thanks in advance for any comments that will help me make a decision.

    Safe Boating to all,
    Kevin

    happy 2002 190 owner

    Kevin,
I dont know about the book values. I luckily found a 2002 190 bay w a 90 2stroke yamaha. I wanted a yamaha and have had them for years. It is not the fastest boat on the water but plains fine and transports 5 easily. My boat is stable, sturdy and big enough for the whole family and visitors. The best thing about a older model is it is paid for!
Feel free to email me with any quesions.
If you have questions about the hull, take the boat on a trailer test to a dealer for evaluation. As for any model of the 190, i dont think you will regret it.
Keep us posted on the purchasing progress. Keep in mind that the transferable warranty has to be done within 5 yrs of original purcahse, per Triumph!
