Cityman, I'm a little unclear about the specifics of this from your post, but if I'd bought a boat and traded in one towards it, i don't think I would have left the dealership without a bill of sale, title, receipt for my cash, etc. Which boat is in your backyard turning yellow? Is it the old bass boat? Did you get a receipt for the $3000 in cash, or did you write a check? Sounds like you need to drive back down to New Bern to straighten it out face to face. My $.02.

Yep...it's time to go look the guy in the eye. Don't leave until you get it straight. Take your documentation with you. Stay calm. Get loud only if you don't get cooperation. Stay calm. You will prevail. Stay calm! Did I mention...stay calm! Check the temper at the door. Good luck.

The dealer is the one that is suposed to follow through with licencing and registration.

Give him one more chance and tell him you are going to get in touch with the DMV yourself then give your local DMV a call and ask them to help they might also take your complaint too if you want to file one.

I know here in California they take a dim view of dealers that don't do the paperwork

Also what Cagrove said, calm, but a little loud and insistant is ok especially when they have customers there thinking about buying a boat... Timing is everything.

In NC the Wildlife Resources Commission is the licensing agency.
