Boat Insurance

I realize this can be a polemic (chevy vs ford or lenco/bennet tabs), but wondering who y'all insure your boat with and if you are happy with any claim history. I'm soon to be an owner of an 03 210, and have been gathering quotes. Ran into a couple companies (e.g., progressive) who will only cover aluminum or glass.

Thanks.....

You might want to try Wallace Welch & Willingham, Inc. and Wiseley Marine Insurance, 300 First Avenue South, Fifth Floor, St. Petersburg, Florida, 33701.

Their web site is http://www.wiseleymarineinsurance.com/marine.html.

They have my business on my new boat.

The person I have been dealing with is Kathy Wallen, Marine Account Services, 727-522-7777 Ext 171 or 800-783-5085 Ext 171, Fax 727-522-5021.

I have no claim experience, but I feel like they have treated me right.

State Farm in SC on a 170 CC w 70 hp 2 stroke $160 per year.
A pitance for the pleasure received. Guess If I had the 190 or 210 it'd be different.

BoatUS
$180 for my 15' 1979 Boston Whaler, and $480 for my 210 CC, 2001 with 200 Yam HPDI.
Of course I live in VT where our boating season is rather short!

Haven't experienced any claims yet, so I can't comment on this. However the customer service/sales dept was real helpful and easy to deal with!

Barry, I could not agree with you more. Having a forum of Triumph owners was a very big part of my purchasing decision.

Most postings are very informative and a chance for others to learn.

I searched for forums for other boats, but for the most part they were either controlled by the manufacturer or did not exist.

The hardest realization that I had to come to grips with is that no boat is perfect. Every design is a compromise, but the 210 CC is just right for my family.

I look forward to your future postings about your boat.

I also use Wisely Marine Insurance. I've been happy with them (seem straightforward) and increases have been minimal (i.e. maybe $20 in 4 years). However, I don't have any claim experience to share either.

I pay right around $400 or $420 per year for I think "agreed" value on the 210 boat of around $13k and depreciable value of 2000 Merc 150 carb motor and 2000 galv trailer. I'm covered anywhere within 30 miles of the continental US coastline.

I got a quote from Boat US before and I think it was like $50-70 cheaper per year, but they wanted me to do a bunch of things (i.e. I think a survey or something).

The prices I'm reading seem good. I'm picking up a 05 170CC w/ 60 Yamaha and boat US quoted me 840.00.Whats wrong with this picture. If I could just get theft for the boat and motor that would be great. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Captom,
$840 seems pretty high. not sure what all the details are, but I have a good policy with BoatUS. I didn't have to do any thing strange, like surveys mentioned above. I may have sent them photos or something, don't remember, but I thought the whole process was quite simple. Also used Progressive before this for my 15' Whaler, I did experience a claim with them, as a tree fell on my boat, they were excellent at dealing with my claim. fast, fair and prompt with payment.

If you can...

check out USAA. I pay $181 yearly for my 2004 191 SC with Honda 130hp and galvanized EZ Loader trailer ($24,680 value limit with $500 deductible). This includes $1500 for accessories, $300k legal liability, and $5k medical payments for each person.
