erie centeral basin fishing

Hello all
I am taking my son to cleveland for a ballgame saturday and we are planning on fishing sunday. I have only experience on erie in the shallow west basin.
I was wondering if any one had tips on trolling the area around mentor or cleveland for walleye. I am staying in mentor and am currently looking for a ramp to launch from.
Any advised on locations or tech would be greatly appreciated.
