Well, SORRY NO PICS. You will just have to take my word. I did get a limit, However I almost got nothing. This hunt was on city lakes called barret. It is a controlled hunt, you have from sun up to 11:30 am to hunt and report back to the dock, during the hunt you must stay in your blinds untill 9:00AM . Then you can opt to boat hunt, as long as you stay out of any blinds still occupied.
Well here is the story, all was COLD !! and quite...I mean nothing Flying anywhere I could see. I could hear a few shots on other areas of tha lake, just not my area. Then Finally it is 9:00am , I am hopeing others will choose to boat hunt, thus scare up birds, hopefully fly to me for refuge...Sure enough a boat came just out side my blind. (
Now bare in mind, I am using by back up gun, that I have not shot In 2 years. It is a pump, my new is a auto) Now I am watching the boat and not looking for birds
So out of the corner of my eye , I see to birds (teal) heading right at me,
wings cupped, landing gear down....oh S---------- they are to close. I stood up as to let them see me, they flared just in time, I let them gain some distanced, then boom, stoned the first, but the 2nd was a bit furtheir now...I squeeze the trigger....nothing!!!
OOOPs
I forget to pump..then she drops, but not dead, I had to shoot 3 more times on the water...I did not have a dog this trip...so you must make sure they are dead..so they do not swim off. So now I have 2 in the bag 5 to go...HMMnn okay what the heck, I am not going home without a limit. What does that mean???? Hee hee. There were no more Quallity birds flying/ swimming. The only other bird that is still deem a fairly decent food sourse is the all time fast flying Ruddy. They were in good numbers. So as boaters scared them up. I worked my jerk cord to pull in my last 5 birds to complete a limit of 7. That is why there is no pictures. I normally do not hunt them.... They made for a good lunch though.
