Wink Stains and Scratches!!!!!

I recently bought a 21' Logic CC, ITs has some stains, and discoloration, and scratches on the hull. Does anyone have any ideas, would it be ok to sand out the scratches, and what could get out the stains?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks John

GulfCapt24,
A pressure washer (car wash type) will take out most stains/dirt. I use a little liquid tide with mine and the boat still looks like new. As for the scratches, really deep ones can be filled by melting some Roplene (available from a dealer) and applying with a putty knife. Sand flat and take a car wax buffer lightly over the area. The heat from the buffer will bring back the shine from the sanding. Shallow ones can be done the same way, just omit the filling part. Just go easy with the sanding and hand sand only...no power sanders...remember, it's plastic. Hope this helps.

What grit sand paper should be used? Do you use the buffer just like you would for car wax?

Zekekb,
To take out the rough spots, use 400 grit. Then to smooth out the lines from the 400 grit use either 800 or 1600 grit. The finer the better. Remember to go with a light touch. As for the buffer, yes, exactly like you would wax a car only in a very small area. What you want to do is heat up the Roplene by using the friction from the buffer. That will slightly melt the Roplene and restore it's shine. You can do the same thing with a torch but you run the risk of burning or scorching the Roplene and melting a hole in your boat. I do not recommend the torch. The buffer gives you greater control over what's being done. Go slow until you get the feel for it. I hope this helps.
