When I first got my boat I also had water coming into my baitwell. I put a rubber expandable plug into the inlet hole inside the baitwell. It works fine. I mostly use my baitwell for dry storage.

hey buggman---you ever git the washdown to work?? i found that before i moved the washdown pump back to the transom ,i had to bump the livewell pump on for just a second to enable the washdown to be able to pick up water to it. that is the reason i moved it to the rear bilge area. my washdown pump only has to pull water 3 feet off the inlet to get water and the pressure is better being so close to the inlet. also i could not sstand to see a pump inside my console ---water spraying all over my electrical connections due to a hose comong off doesnt boad well with me. i also moved the washdown from the console of my 186 bay as it was also mounted under the console on that model as well----see a pattern here triumph factory folks????!!!!!!plenty of room in the bilge for washdown pumps and better operating pumps if located in the bilge

Hey berto-- I haven't got the washdown pump to work yet, to tell ya the truth I really haven't messed with it yet, but now that fishing has slowed down I have it on my list to do's. I did get my bait pump to work though, I found that the impeller was seized up, I tore it apart and cleaned, and have been useing it ever since with no problems. if I get time this weekend I will take a look at the washdown pump. sorry I didn't get back to ya sooner but my computer has been down for a while.
I think I will also move my pump while I am at it I am like you and don't really care to have the chance of water spraying everywhere!!
thanks for the help!
buggman
