Hi Derel. Do you have pictures that you could attach to the post? I'm not sure what compartment you're referring to.

Derel.
The compartments on the floor are pockets that are formed when joining the upper and lower molds. They are fused together and form kiss off points and in essence become part of a stringer system. On the 210 they are large enough to become fish boxes ,unfortunately not so on the 186. When you open one you should see a small brass drain aft. That is for any water intrusions. Subsequent year models Triumph improved the drain and how the the floor board and pocket joined to cut down on water intrusion. To cut down on water several members added additional screws to further spread the tension and reduce flexing of the floor board. You will need to regasket and use rule elastomeric to seal the compartments. You can get rule through a Triumph dealer Such as Merrit Marine. You can also order it from outdoor superstore.com.. About rule, it is the only sealant that Triumph uses in the factory, even the mighty GE 440 or whatever its named has failed on the poly hull. Just remember do not be shy when applying the rule (you can always clean up the excess) and give it 24 hours to cure. |

The factory continues to use the black tar sealant but I have found Rule Elastomeric works best. Buy a countersink and add additional screws directly inbetween the old ones. Seat all screws with elastomeric as well.
Some have had to drill a drain hole in the low aft of the concavities if there is no drain hole or if it has gotten clogged in the past. It just draines to the bilge. |

i will try the rule elastomeric and there is no drain holes
so where would i drill the hole at and are you sure it drains to the bilge? because i dont see how it can get to it from lookin in the bilge area my boat is a 2001 logic 18.6 |

I had the same problem with my 2001 186. Instead of drilling drain holes I put a 4" round accsess cap at the rear of each grey pannel. Just like the one just behind your cooler seat or leaning post. I bought them from west marine. This way you can open them up to checkfor water. I have a 1/2" hose I keep to siphon the water out or
you can purchase a small bilge pump that will fit in the 4" holes and pump it out if your boat is in the water. I did reseal my pannels with rule and added a screw between each of the existing screws. I still get some water but nowhere near as much I use to. |

Thats The Best Solution I Have Seen Yet--sure Beats Unscrewing All Them Screws And Re- Ruling. As With All The Early Model Logics Triumph Went Away From The Grey Poly Boards To The Better Starboard In The Current Models And It Has Helped With The Water Intrusion.

Correction Illogical
The gray boards were what they called "starboard lite", basically air infused starboard to make them lighter and not as dense. Due to strength issues, flexing, bowing, Triumph switched to standard starboard for increased density-strength. Both boards are poly material. |
