I have a 2002, When it is warm I get the same smell, I just open up the center counsil, put a life jacket along the edge. this allows air to circulate while being stored. As for the storage.....They all leak, I have not seen one that doesnt. Just something to live with. The only thing I could think of would to get a thicker rubber seal to put on the doors.

Yes the drainage issue is the major complaint many of us have. If your boat doesn’t already have thru hull drainage in the fish holds there are threads with a modification you might like. Your large hold should drain into the bilge. I end up sponging about 3 gal. out after wash down , still haven’t seen a good fix for that one! Just a trade off we deal with to have durable seaworthy boats at a reasonable price. I don’t think I’d be comfortable till I traced down the source of the gas fumes though!!!

in your post you state you smell gas--is this smell diff from the smell the plastic puts off. if you have had the boat since 2000 i would think you would have experience with the "gassy" smell the plastic puts off. my 2001 210cc gives off the plastic smell under the console especially if closed up for any period of time. the only time i ever smell gasoline is when i'm near the gas cap . the tank vents thru the cap rather than overboard as in older boats. if you indeed smell gasoline inside the console area---it needs to be addressed with your triumph dealer sooner than later. i believe the console will have to be lifted off to get to the gas tank
keep us posted--we older model owners will be the first to experience the long use problemmatic stuff i'm afraid.

if your boat came with those little rinky-dink hinged handle drain plugs instead of the screw in sea-dog type, you might want to opt for making the modification to a screw in type. whatever type you have if the boat is on a trailer they need to be left unplugged.
i built a frame out of salt treated 2x2 with 1x2 slats screwed on top to get my gear out of the water in the mega hatch.Triumph has one made out of starboard that comes with the new models ,but it is pricy as an accessory. heck-- now i got formyldehyde stinking up the mega hatch and polypropelene stinking up my console. at least i got fish stinking up the fish boxes one out of 3 ain't bad i guess

i took a round aluminum bar about six inchs and cut a slit on the end. i also knurled the handle end for grip to tighten the screw caps tighter. i couldnt get my hand on the caps well enough. james

I've read that the poly material allows gas vapors to permeate, but not at a dangerous level. The local fire department should have a device that can measure the fumes to see if they are dangerous. I'm sure they would be happy to do the test for you.

Cincy is right. I too had the gas like smell in the mega hatch. At least I thought it was gas. I tested it with an explosive/flammable gas tester from my local volunteer fire dept. There were no flammables present. It has to be the smell of the roplene. It would be good to check yours. When it comes to gas smells, I would want to be sure.

mine is a 2000 210CC also, even though I thought it was a 2001 I have since learned it is a 2000 based on the serial number! Anyway I also experience the gas smell in my console area where the batteries are, and remember others with the same issue. probably best to keep console cracked a bit to vent during storage, however I never have to be honest and not had a problem. it is a mild gas smell and seems like most of us have it. would be interested to hear Triumphs response to it however.
it probably comes into the console area thru the holes for the wiring in the bottom of console area and then gets trapped because there is no vent on top of the console area.
don't usually smell gas in mega hatch area though, usually just smells like mildew in there since it always has a bit of water in it.

Il logic Al, I'd like to see a picture of your Mega hatch floor, am thinking of doing the same thing.

i hope to get pics this weekend. daughter is coming home this weekend from school and she has the camera with her at school. the salt treated wood was not my first choice and i hope to replace it with a plastic frame if i can find something to replace it with. the smell is worse than the gas smell.

Mega Hatch 210

Thanks for the response on the gas smell. In my mega hatch i got two old restaurant dish washer racks cut one up to fit the bottom, lashed it together w/ plasrtc zip ties, it,s just a bit higher than the drain hole , any long lived restaurant will have a few "worn out" racks free or cheep.
