Regarding Fuel Sending Unit
I just bought a used 99 Logic 15 ft and the fuel gauge isn't working. After removing the rear plate I find 1) it isn't wored to the guage and 2) the sending unit is badly corroded. You mentioned replacing the sending unit of your boat.
Did you do it yourself and if so, how tough is the job and any cautions, and where did you buy the unit? Any ideas on where I can get wiring info for my boat? Thanks so much. Stan |

first welcome to the group. i used the boat until the gas was down to about 1/4 of the tank and then disconnected the hot wires from the battery to ensure no sparks could be generated . simply loosened the 4 screws that hold the sending unit on and lifted the old one out trying to keep as much rust from falling back into the tank as possible. one thing i didnt do that i suggest to you is to mark the tank with a marker at the screw that is spaced at the widest space from the others. the screw spacing is not the same and i had a time getting the right alignment of screws to tank holes. i went back with the lever float but have since seem one that slides up and down on a shaft and i think it would work better clean the tank opening and reinstall. as for wiring,if the gauge is wired note the colors and look where the harness comes to the back of the boat and try to find them. i would think they are in the general area of the tank. hard to believe someone would not have attached these wires to the sender . if you are the least bit unsure as to how to do this by all means have your dealer do this for you ... this is a critical connection and one doesnt need gas vapors leaking in the bilge area with all the electrical components that are there. i am not familiar with the layout of the 15' ,but if there is a stainless steel bar going across the tank make sure it protects the fitting for the gas line leading to the motor. thse fitting has been broken off of 210cc in the past due to the old gray deck panels warping . you can see this mod i did in my picture. any more questions just ask away.

Thank you so much. I appreciate the advice on the sending unit. I may end up taking my electrical problems to a repair shop because I've found several wiring problems and unless I can get a wiring diagram it may be tough for me to figure it out. I'll contact Triumph to see if they might have something. Thanks again.

sixshooter,
i havent done this yet. i am aware of only 1 boat ever having the gas tank come loose from the brackets and that owner was shall i say a tad rougher a boater than most of us will ever be. he also had connections to get things done for him that we dont as well ,so i actually consider him a really bad exception to the rule. however the guys at merritt either did or advised him how reinstall the fuel tank and bracing as well. i am thinking about adding another s.s bar as we have on top of the tank and attach it midway down on the rear of the tank or put some wood boards from the splashwell back to the tank. i havent finished redoing the bilge plumbing yet, so i will be getting in touch with dick at MM once i get all my hoses sorted out. you can appreciate how little room we 01 guys have in our bilge areas and i will have to pull the livewell deck plate up to get a drain hose up to the front of the livewell. GGC
