01 210 check bilge hose for wear on stainless strap on center line
A major source for water getting into the inner hull foam comes from the bilge pump discharge hose rubbing the rule off the stainless steel strap that ties the transom to the hull of the boat.if the the s.s. strap should be exposed water along side the strap and drain into the foam . the bilge pump is mounted on a block of starboard, but it may still be too low in the hull for the hose to not rub on the rule.
to know if you need to do anything, first lift the bilge pump out of the strainer base and see if the hose has worn away the rule leaving the s.s. strap exposed. if the rule is as installed ,then you are o.k however, if the s.s is exposed then you will the to the following fix.
the fix is to get a piece of starboard or something in my case 3/4" thick to put on top of the existing block and remount the pump. i had some extra fish box lids that i had used in other fixes and and cut a piece large enough to
work
my boat came with the rule 1100 gpm pump and i lifted it from the base. i unscrewed the blue strainer base from the block and used it to pattern the holes for the new block and drilled out the holes to match.
with the pump removed i cut away as much dirty rule around the strap as i could and applied gobs of rule on top of the strap.
once the rule had set up i took the new block and installed it between the old block in the bottom and the blue strainer base and screwed everything back in place.
the hose now clears the strap and i am no longer getting water in the inner liner where the strap was exposed.
i didnt have a camera at the time of the fix but this is a straightfoward repair.
