Question What brand of engine do you run on your Triumph?

Putershark thought it would be interesting to start a poll on what brand of engine we run on our Triumphs. So here it is! And feel free to comment on your specific motor below. What you like, what you don't like, problems, maintenance, etc. If I need to add another engine that we didn't think of let me know.

Thanks all for participating in the poll and thanks to Putershark for organizing our new 'Marine Engines' forum!

2002 Honda 130 EFI - just clicked over 520 hours on the meter. Wonderful motor that runs quiet and consistent. Expensive! If you have problems, expensive! Honda is fair when it comes to warranty work - non-declining. I had some fuel system issues last spring and Honda was great. I believe that the issues were caused by our CT Ethanol 'green' gas. But all is well now. If I had to do all over again, I would get the 150HP V-Tech. Same or less weight than the 130 with better tech and more HP.

Don't forget the Etec

Hey Guys,

I know BRP is listed with the High Pressure DI engine's but they are the ugly step son of the Etec's! The Evinrude Etec is the lateset and Greatest and i didn't want them to be left out...

Well I created the list, but really both engines are covered when you consider that...

1. The FICT engine was / is a "low pressure" injected 2 stroke engine.
2. The ETEC engine on the other hand, is high pressure (stratified) injected 2 stroke engine close in design to the Mercury OPTIMAX.

So really both / all BRP 2 stroke engine's are covered in the BRP section and if needed, Randy can edit the BRP High Press listing to also say ETEC if needed... I tried to stay away from "Model" names as much as possible so the list would not get a mile long when in fact, many are the same just types, either injected or have a carburetor

Where is gets really skewed (which made it even harder to create the engine list) is that some of the older Merc 4 strokes are really painted black Yamaha's till Mercury sued Yamaha for flooding the market with (so called) cheap engines? Really strange move on Merc's part since Yamaha's have pretty much always cost more to install than the same sized Merc... Then you had the roll over from the old Evinrude/Johnson Corp to BRP BUT Suzuki made / makes some of BRP's 4 stoke engines.... Could have been a real confusing mess since we are "not" asking for engine model years.

Really though, all we are just trying to is get a simple cross section of our user base so we can help create site content to meet our memberships needs, and not a actual scientific survey
