170 CC water in live well
Have same experience. Early use of boat when first purchased mistakenly thought I could use live well as dry storage if pump was not turned on.
Wrong. Ended up with wet stuff from some (2-3 in.) water that came into live well via pick-up or drain tubes? Later pluged drain and still got water via pick-up without pump on??? Could fix with shut off valve installed in this line if it was a big deal. Belive water comes in when dropping off plane and water surges up on transom. Could also happen when backing down hard. I've just learned to live with it. |

RPK513,
I have an 04 170CC. I've never had a problem with the baitwell filling with water like that since it is above the water line. With the plug in the only way for water to come in is through the fill tube. Does the 2006 have a high speed pick up on the bottom of the boat? If it does then it will force water in when you are running. I rigged a high speed pick up tube on mine and I have to close the valve on the inside of the baitwell when I'm not using it or water will come in. My baitwell will get water in it at home if it rains with the cover off because of the hole in the baitwell lid on the 2004 model. Hope this helps. John D. |

RPK513,
John D. is 100% correct (again), the '06 has a pick up that will pull water into the livewell when running. This helps keep any fish in the livewell fresh when running between fishing spots. Close the black valve on the fill tube in the livewell and the water will not enter. |
