new but used 170cc
Just bought a used 02 170cc with an 80fs yamaha. Less than 10 hours on rig! We fish in central NY for Walleye and spend a week in Maine fishing out of Kittery. I need to know if I can put flush mt rod holders both sides, across from console, for my down riggers. Great site. Thank You!

Used 170 CC
I have a 2002 170 CC with 80 four stroke Yam as well. Have bow mounted Minn Kota 12v. trolling motor for beating the Mangroves in FL or creeks in coastal NC.
The gunwale mounted rod holders were discouraged by Triumph some years back. Some owners on this site have made this modification per postings. You may check the Advanced Search. I have rod holders, two SS mounted on the side rails and two less expensive plastic mounted on the CC grab rail. This gives me four rod holders that I can see the rods without looking backward or to the side. With the right length rods and angle of holders, I can pull the four lures clean or use one or both of the CC rail mount with flat line clips. All I need without using a hole saw. Several other "improvements" over the years. Also some lessons learned. Posted most of them under Jim Jenkins. Will share as you wish. The 170 CC is a great little boat... |

Na41m, as a suggestion, you might want to look at the following.
For our 210CC we purchased the following Tite-Lok products: 1. Tite-Lok Model 5901 Track Sections 6-36 Inches - Length 6 Inches plus Tite-Lok Model 5901 Track Sections 6-36 Inches - Length 18 Inches. 2. Four Track Inserts Series, Size 5902 / 18 inch, color white plus four Track Inserts, Size 5902 / 6-inch color white. 3. Two Tite-Lok Downrigger Mounts For additional rod holders, we purchased the following from Vector Teknologies: 1. Four Single Spring-Loc Rod Holders with the Flip-Loc Upgrade, Dipsy Angles, 0 & 11.5 Degrees in Blue and Black for our Track Mouting System. 2. We liked the above so much we also purchased from Vector Teknologies One Single Spring-Loc Rod Holders with Gimbal Pin Upgrade for Rod Tube, and Part # 01079, Pursuit Adapter in Blue and Black. At the same time we purchased Four Rail Mount Rod Holders with Four 1 inch Clamp for Rail Mount items in Blue and Black. Our dealer installed the Tite-Lok track sections. Hope these ideas help.

As a further suggestion, please go to the “Articles” section and read the Article “My 210 Downrigger Setup” by Little Casino.
It was his suggestions and ideas that we put to work on our 210CC.
