Tom,
I used Google Earth, incredible sight, and found I am 62 miles from Pelee Point. My Lat/Lon coordinates are 41deg 43min N, 81deg 21min W.

Hogan, Ron and Mainah:

What part of the state do you boat in? I am in Aroostook County and trailer all over the state.

Braley,

I'm about 177 miles south of you in Gardiner and the boat is ten miles further south on the Kennebec in Richmond. Let me know when you're headed this way!

Dick:

I will let you know when I head to the Kennebec. Hope to fish the mouth of the river and the beaches for stripers frequently in August. When I had my 190 we put in at Gardiner and went down stream to Popham Beach and also cruised the sasanoa. Great day on the water.

It's a great place to have a boat because of the choices you describe and more, river, bays and open water. We go around SW into Casco Bay and NE to Rockland or so in the 186. The Sasanoa and Lower H*ll Gate nearly got us a couple weeks ago. We've yet to take up striper fishing though.

I'm smack dab between you guys here in Hampden. I've trailered to Square, Eagle, & Long up near you Braley (and also used to fish Pleasant up in Island Falls quite a bit). I go up to Moosehead at least once a year with my boat (and to the East Outlet without my boat to fly fish). I also have made several trips to Sabego when I get "ice out fever".

Normally I fish at Beech Hill Pond, since that's where I'll be building my home next year. I also spend a lot of time down the Penobscot river between Bangor and Bucksport, the striper fishing is just fair.

I promised my buddy that we'd take a trip in the new 195DC down on the Kennebec or somewhere near Damriscotta for some stripers in a week or two. Since It looks like you know the area down there well, Mainah, any suggestions?

Hey Ron,

I do know the area but I'm a very novice striper fisherman who hasn't had much of a chance to wet a line this year. From what I hear the stripers are still around in decent numbers but have moved a little further offshore making surfcasting success more difficult. There's still a lot of activity on the Kennebec from North Bath off Thorne's Head and Lines Island all the way past the mouth!

Certainly your chances will increase as you come further south on the coast!

Dick
