buying a used triumph (warranty)

purchased a used triumph (2004) from a boat dealer. they did not check the details of the warranty and said it could be transferred. This was incorrect, it cannot be transferred if it is a used boat and purchased from a dealer. If used, it must be purchased from the original owner and the warranty transfer must occur within a very small time window. Also based on the year of the boat the "transferability" does expire. Is all this fair?, yes, before you purchase a triumph call the manufacturer and ask for a copy of the warranty, it is spelled out very clearly. Would I still buy this boat from the dealer I bought it from? Yes, I checked the boat very carefully, we did a 45 minute sea test and I checked out all of the electronics. I could have called the previous owner if I wanted to. This is one more piece of information that you might think is important when you buy a boat.
