170 DC in Australia

I bought my new 170Dc just a few weeks ago.
Its powered by 75 Etec all I can say is I am very happy.
Saw the boat at the Brisbane boat show and said that for me.
Great for fishing and the family, couldn't be happier.

Cheers Paul

Welcome aboard Paul,
Congratulations. I know you will enjoy your 17' Triumph. I've enjoyed my 170CC four years now with no problems. It's a sweet riding boat.

Welcome Paul,

As a new Triumph Owner, I've found this site, and its' members, extermely helpful. I bought my 2003 170DC in March of this year, and have put well over 100 hours on since. It's a great boat, handles the roughest water I've encountered in Colorado, and is about perfect for my wife and I. We've got a couple of grandkids that live close, and they have had a lot of fun with us as well. It's about the end of the boating season here, but we will be heading to Arizona for a month in mid-winter, and plan to take the boat with us.

So far I've added an on-board charger for the trolling motor, a stabilzer plate, and some flush-mount rod holders. I plan on adding a swim platform before heading south, since the ladder that came with the boat (cheap, detachable) is a bit too shaky when we want to swim, or tow a tube.

Hope you get as much enjoyment from you boat as we have had with ours.

Ron

Welcome Paul. Glad you found the web site.

I am sure we would all like to see some pictures of your new ride. Also, most folks have no idea what Australia looks like, so pictures of your part of the World would also be welcome. I lived in Melbourne for 3 years, but was way to young to remember much. I think I remember more from family pictures. We do have half of a big clam shell that my parents got on the Great Barrier Reef. Also have pictures of starting school wearing a uniform. I do remember my father bringing home life crabs and lobster. I would play with them on the kitchen floor before mother put them in the pot of boiling water.

Again, welcome.

Paul, I am also looking at buying a Triumph---Bay19. Saw it at Brissie show. I was at Going Boating two weeks ago and saw them fitting out a 17DC... maybe yours? Where do you plan to fish? Moreton Bay or Estuary only? How was the service from Tim? Seems like he is pretty good?

95 % of my fishing is done down the pin or Nossa river.
Having said that I am planing a day trip to tangallooma on a good day.
It is very dry for a low sided boat but in big seas expect to get very wet.
No problems handling reasonable chop.
Heaps better than aluminium boat.
Comparable to glass boat easily. Nice soft ride.
I wouldnt hestate buying one again. Get an Etec too.Very good.

Cheers Paul
