Southport Weekend Activities

Is there a post somewhere on here that lists all the activities that will be going on during the Southport weekend? I've seen several, but they talk mostly about the tournament. I'd like to come but not bring my boat, just to see that many people with like interests, and have a look at that many Triumphs all in one place, I've never seen ANY where I fish.

I'm planning on coming, but at this point I'm not sure if I'm bringing my boat or not. I'm having issues with my piece of junk trailer. [ Never buy a Magic Tilt]

I have motel reservations but that may change if I decide to camp instead. There is an RV place with hookups in the area. I need AC for the ferrets.

Regardless, I will be doing some Geocaching in the area. If you don't know what that is, go to www.geocaching.com

I haven't heard of any other activities other than the event it's self. I've never been to the area, so I don't know what else there is to do?

Southport Weekend Activities

I was hoping there would be more going on,I had a hard time finding a hotel, but finally got one in Wilmington, about a half hour away, oh well, I'll be able to explore a little on the coast while I'm there.

Well got the batteries charged up, gonna wash the boat and run the motor....check all screws and grease the trailer bearings. Will be leaving Birmingham, AL this Thurs morning for Southport!

Used MapQuest but it wanted to send me thru Myrtle Beach which probably would be bad traffic so will vere a little north and drop down from Hwy74/76 to 211 into Southport. Looks like a 10-12h trip. Does that sound like the best option?

Guess I'll scout around Friday and check out the winds which I have read have been pretty bad but may have gone down a little this weekend. Wonder if the seas/winds are bad, are we all going to be fishing for flounder?

Where can you buy frozen bait in Southport?

Well, gotta get my NC fishing lic. and get working on the boat.
See everyone in a few days, Molar

Molar, 74/76 211 will get you here just fine. It my be a little out of the way. It sure gets tricky around Myrtel Beach area if you go that way.
I take it that you are taking I-20 to Florence and then jumpimg onto 76.
You can buy frozen bait at Wal-Mart in Southport and at most all of the Bait & tackle stores in the area.
The winds have been terrible here for the past two weeks. I hope that they lay down for the tournament next week or we all may be flounder fishing inside and that will cost another $100 I think. As of now I have only singed up for King fishing. Have a safe trip and im looking foward to meeting everyone next week. Bob

Im sure some of you will, but will someone please post some nice pics from the big weekend. I have my wifes family coming in this weekend and even though that is reason enough to go I must stay behind and take one for the team. Hope everyone stays safe and has a great time. Looking forward to next year already!

Wilmington is a great place to visit. There are historical sites to visit and nice restaraunts on the waterfront. The beaches are nice as well. We look forward to seeing you at the owners meeting Friday night and/or the awards dinner on Saturday.

We'll be sure to post a bunch of photos. There will be at least three new Triumph 235's on the water from what I understand and we'll have several Triumph dealers and folks from the factory in attendance. They'll be fishing against each other and won't compete in our owners tournaments. I have no clue how many boats will be entered but I hope if you are a Triumph owner that you'll plan to join us Friday and Saturday in Southport. You can fish for flounder inshore or go out the inlet in pursuit of King Mackerel (they've been in close for a few weeks now). Or if you just want to check out the Triumph line I hope you'll join us too.
