Thumbs up Free PC Online Virus / Spyware cleaners

Here is the link for 3 free (Online) Trend Micro Virus and Spyware Cleaners for when your loaded programs fail OR to have another program do a "once over" on your systems just in case your loaded programs skip over something...

Follow the directions, wait till the scans are complete, and highlight and delete (pending on which one you just ran) any known found Viruses, Trojans, or Spyware.

Hopefully these will help save your PC from the scum of the planet

Trend Micro has changed their web page around some so you can not find all 3 free scanners on one page as before.

So you need to use this page to download and run their free SPYWARE scanner http://www.trendmicro.com/spyware-scan/

And then back to this page to get their free Virus and other web search related "Roaches" as I like to call them
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Speaking of SPYWARE scanners, most people think "I already have one, why use this"? Which is a fair question, but we have to remember that SPYWARE scanning is a art and not a science and as such, the more ones that you use, the better your level of protection will be. This cause each program can and do find different ones running around on your computer and that could be the root cause of some of your present error messages, or slow down in overall computer performance. Having SPYWARE on your PC nowadays is bad as getting a Virus (sometimes worse ) and really needs to be removed to keep your PC healthy

Enjoy!
Dave

All 3 free scanning programs can now be found at the bottom left of the Trend Micro home page located here http://www.trendmicro.com/home/default.asp in the Home and Home Office section.

Enjoy!

The program has now been combined back into one that checks for both spy-ware and virus traces at the same time and can be now found here http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en..._free_scan.php#

Here is another free scanner that I have used from time to time from the Borg (works great) that the IE 8 Beta will not run, but is finding some junk on my PC as I type this...

http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm

As I have mentiond before though, no "one" program can find all such little bugs running around on your system, so one must run a several to get as many as possible

The borg

I tried the onecare and it wouldn't work for me. All it would say was there was an error and I had to perform some other function that I didn't feel great with. Oh well. I use spybot and Norton and windows defender for Vista, and Spybot and McCafee for my XP machine, with a firewalled router so I don't seem have a bunch of problems. (Knock on wood)

I bet it is asking to install a Active X control at the top of the screen. No biggie and it is OK since it is a signed by Microsoft control. You may need to also hold down the "CTRL" key at the same to prevent another pop up blocker from stopping the process. Free free though to send me a PM with the screen shot and I will be more than happy to see what you are looking at

This cleaner though "also" looks for registry errors as well and dump some temp files that are both slowing down the PC as well has hogging up space for no logical reason. So even though you are running some other shields (as I do) this program can works wonders in fixing stuff and why I recommend it

Fun with Electronics

Thanks Dave, I had already installed the Active X control and it was something else. I don't remember right now. Mayhaps I will give it another whirl later.
