Great Day in Tampa Bay

Did some fishing last Wednesday and caught a couple redfish and sheepshead, some big black drum (around 20lbs), and broke off a 40" + snook after getting him right next to the boat.

The highlight of the day was a 24" tripletail. We were cruising the shipping channel, checking the markers for trips and cobia and spotted him sitting under a boey. I had my buddy toss a shrimp while I positioned the boat and the fish immediately inhaled the shrimp and put up a huge battle.

All fish were caught inside Tampa Bay in the Apollo Beach area using free-lined jumbo shrimp.

Looks like you did pretty well. That's a good looking trip you caught. I've not caught one yet, but I hear they are some good eating. Merry Christmas and a Fishy New Year.

jconstab,
Way to go. Another great fishing report. That triple tail makes the baitwell look real small on that 170CC. Merry Christmas and keep posting those fishing reports for the ones that can't get out everyday. I'm constantly checking the weather here in SE NC for a "Blue Bird" day so I can get out on the ocean.

That's not the baitwell...that's inside the cooler seat! I kept the triple tail and a sheepshead that day and both were excellent to eat. I dipped them in butter and olive oil and broiled them with old bay seasoning.

Nice fish. It's always a great day on the Nature Coast-I'm on vacation this week, hope to catch me a couple of them fish as well.
