We just went out of Oceanside and nailed a few of Yellow fin tuna. They were between the 209 and the 181. 5 hit, 4 were landed (25, 27, 29, & 34 lbs). Also we saw some Marlin but they did not like anything we served them. Almost 40 miles out and back and the water was the flattest I have ever seen.

I live in Simi Valley. I am almost out every Sat. at the Channel Islands. Most of the time I fish the east side of Santa Cruz and the backside of Anacapa. Prior owner of a 190 Bay. Upgraded to a 235 about 6 months ago.

Rcargan,
Nice to hear a fellow boater out at CI. Do you fish Yellow Banks and have you gone further north? I've been out around Fry Harbor on the east side of Santa Cruz the last two weekends. Last weekend two guys came back to the Ventura Harbor that were spearfishing dorado 5 miles west of Anacapa around some paddies. They got 2. Perhaps we can meet up and go out some time, if interested. I may be back down on the 20th. On your older post regarding your irregular fitting storage covers, I found the same to be true when I was looking at Triumphs to purchase. Depending on the boat, they all fit different. One central cal dealer had a 07 215 that half the covers were misaligned and stood up enough to trip over. At the boat show in LA every cover on their boats fit perfectly. It was made known that they can be adjusted(I think perhaps sanded) to fit better. The 215 I ended up buying had every cover fitting perfectly, but I found out if you leave them up or off(transom storage compartments) in the heat of the day they may warp a bit. I found this to be true with my starboard transom cover. It has never fit flush since I left it out for a day to air out the compartment. It now needs a corner sanded a bit to fit clean. Besides this and a few loose screws, my boat has run great.
Steve

Hey katfish ( Steve ). Yeah, I ment east side instead of west side of Santa Cruz. Made the correction in my post. I have definitely fished yellow banks as well as blue banks. Yellow banks has been more productive for me. Got a WSB several weeks ago in that location on a sardine. Haven't ventured north, I hear it gets really ruff. Weather reports, most of the time, show very bad swell heights, etc. Still learning the area. I hear a good area is a harbor just south of east point at Santa Cruz. Dorado ? Wow ! I'll keep my eye out for kelp patties tommorow. Nope, not familiar with Fry Harbor. Will check it out. Ragarding the storage covers. Yes, my transom covers warped again due to the heat. Left them open to air out, as well. They won't lock in place now. Have to bring it back to the dealer to get fixed. Yeah, lets meet up. Thanks for the info.

Rudy

Nefarious,

i will be launching out of Dana Point going to the 279, 277, The Slide, maybe Avalon, then back to the 14 mile bank on the way to the barn. I will be listening on 72 if you are in the area. Shout out to the Shadow Dancer & I should hear you. We will be looking for YFT, YT, Dodo, and hopefully Elvis. If we don't find any life on the paddys, we will be going to either Yellow Tail point or Church Rock at CI.

Good luck, & lets fill the fish boxes...
