Where do you buy most of your marine products?

It is kinda strange how some shops will charge up to 50% more for some stuff. I always shop around, but normally stay loyal and pay a premium when the guy behind the desk is helpful (and a sole proprietor).

All that said. I'd still be interested in Randy's idea of getting group discounts at any of the mainstream boating/tackle stores. Case-in-point, BassPro had the new Rapala fish grip/scale but my local guy didn't. So I bought from BassPro. Paid $79.99 to BassPro and I'm sure the local guy would've charged $85-$90.

I bounce around on the internet as well. Not to many local guys in my neck of the woods in Vermont. We do have a Westmarine outlet, but I find them to be ok, not super impressed with their sales force either. I have had great luck with Cabela's when they have what I need. Sometimes need to go elsewhere for special items, such as Rule Elasto, drain plugs, etc.. However Cabelas was by far the cheapest place I could find for a replacement bilge pump last year!
We are getting close to boating season up here in New England, going to take off the shrink wrap soon and install my new Bennett Trim Tabs I picked up this winter shortly. I'll post photos when complete, other mods I'm planning are rear seat cushions and stereo system.

really cabelas the cheapest to replace your bigle pump. I just replaced my rule 1100gph from my 210. I found cabelas and bass pro and most others all had the same price. I did find a place called start marine depot that had the same pump for $15 less than anybody else. but hey since I dont know them and have had excelent relationship with bass pro I spent more money.

I too love cabelas, I do most of my hunting shopping there, the only draw back is it is all catalog ordering, since they have no stores out west...

I guess its a good idea to shop around at the time when you need something. I just checked cabelas and boaters world for Rule 1100 gph automatic pump, boaters world was cheaper (71.99), think this is a good price. Cabelas was $79 (still relative good price). I remember last year Cabelas was less than boaters world. it all depends on timing apparently.

I was shopping around for that same pump a couple weeks ago. I found a site that had it for $64.95 but since I didnt know them and had never done business there I opted for the one at bass pro shops at 79.95

I outfitted my 191FS entirely through cabelas (trolling motor, fish finders, etc). Luckily they have a new store that is within an hour of home. Always very happy with the service and returns.
