General Trailer Maintenance Guide

Can be found here

http://www.heartlandmarinefl.com/Tra...enance%20Items

And when I get a chance and remove all the link code from the docoment, I will re-post it as a thread so you can (in theory) print it easier.

Enjoy!

I really like the "General Trailer Maintenance Guide." Lots of real good information.

The only thing I see missing for my trailer is "DO NOT USE IMPACT TOOLS ON THE STAINLESS STEEL HUBS!!"

Did you write this? If so, you did a GREAT job.

I always look for your postings, they are always good information.

Question trailer question ???

I usually keep my 210cc logic on a lift.. but I have a trailer for winter storage..the bunk boards are sound but the carpet needs to be replaced, its difficult to get the boat on and off the trailer... it doesnt slide like people say theirs does..I have seen some guides made of some type of plastic or something,in boaters world, bass pro and west marine...my question is will this material work with my plastic boat, these guides just screw on top of the carpet.or is it best to stick with the carpet ??

Thanks

Thanks Vic!
If you see something that needs updated just let me know and I can edit it easy enough since it is setting on (I just posted a direct link) Heartland's web site.

Cfirth,
I would first recover with carpet this way the load is still spread out evenly across the bunks and not have any high spots from the sliders that you are talking about. I would though make sure that the bunks are in the correct positions AND I would make sure that you are getting "both" trailer fenders underwater (or real close to being) when loading and unloading so the boat just floats off the trailer.

You may not need to recarpet you bunks. Inspect and verify the the carpet is OK. There is a spray on lube available at Boaters World to put on the bunks. BE CAREFULL! That boat is going to slide off pretty fast the first few times. If you cannot find it I am pretty sure that it is nothing more than silicone spray. I was straining to get my boat off the trailer when I first got it. Sprayed the bunks once last summer and it still slides off pretty well. Easier than recarpeting.

good way to get boat off trailer eaiser it to back a little more in with the trailer. Watch out for silicone spray on bunk carpet. Gentleman at lake James dropped his boat off the trailer backing up, slide right off

Cool trailer maintance guide

Once again, thanks for the replys...I think that most of my problem was "operator error" I was not getting the trailer in deep enough..I still have the boat on a lift, but I do plan on trailering it to differant locations along the chesapeake bay..now the carpet on the bunks has disenigrated and it does need to be replaced...do you think in door out door carpet from lowes or home depot work,or should it be the high dollar marine carpet.?

I thought I was the only one who was having problems launching. At low tide I have to get out and rock the boat and give it a little push to break it free from the bunks. High tide is usually no problem.

I back in, crank up the motor and put her in reverse. Guess it may depend on how steep your ramp is and how deep the water gets.
