Shoot tru transducer

Are you able to use a shoot thru (puck) style transducer on a Triumph. I'm getting conflicting reports. Triumph says no, the dealer said they might be able to install one, if they remove the foam. I know for a fact the a lot of boat manufactures leave a section of the hull next to the bilige foam free, just for mounting a shoot thru. I've never been a big fan of transom mounts. They don't hold bottom well at speed and its more holes in the boat.

It's not just the foam that is the problem. Polyethylene is not dense enough to get an accurate reading if a thru hull transducer is used [Roplene floats, Fiberglass doesn't]. Also how would you get it to bond to the hull.

Thanks, thats why I asked. What are you using to embed the screws with a transom mount? Does Triumph sell a special glue. On a fiberglass boat I would use 3M 4200 or 5200

Rule (sudbury) Elastomeric sealant is the only thing that really works. It seals and sticks to our boats better than 3m

Stick with the RULE. It is the one that works best.
