Does anyone have experience with attaching radio antenna to the 120 and where would they place it? My 120 has a bimini top, but no side rails. Radio instructions say to keep it away from humans (radiation a problem?). Any and all ideas and solutions would be helpful. Thanks, patty.

Patty,
If you haven't purchased your VHF yet you may want to consider a waterproof hand held. I have a 170 CC and that's what I use due to having my bimini up a lot during the summer. I live in Southeastern NC and the handheld works fine for me. I've used it as far out as 5 miles offshore without problems. Ask around your area. That may be all you need. I think I paid $99 at Boaters World. May solve your problem. Good luck. John D. |

Happy to report I found solution for radio/antenna on 120. Found an antenna mount that fits on my bimini rail to use with a short 3' mast. Since it parallels the rail, it folds down easily with the bimini. I direct wired radio with quick disconnect to boat battery, then mounted radio on rear of driver's back rest , 3' away from antenna. And it works!
