120 Sdcc Porpoising

I Just Purchased A 2005 120 Sdcc W/ 25 Yamaha 4 Stroke. With A Passenger In The Seat In The Front Of The Console It Rides Fine. With Just One Aboard It Porpoises. It Does Not Have Power Trim And The Lowest Pin Setting On The Motor Does Not Stop The Porpoising. Has Anyone Solved This Problem?

Thanks
Eric

Sounds like a weight issue

Hi Mark,

Since you have the engine tilted all the way down, perhaps you have too much weight in the aft end of the boat. Batteries, anchors, other gear?

The Triumph web site states max engine is a 30HP and max transom weight is 215lbs.

The web site also shows the battery and portable fuel tank next to the transom, more weight to deal with.

The best solution is to add smart tabs to the boat. Contact your dealer and they can hook you up with some. The 20 lb. would probably work the best.

120 Smart Tabs

Thanks to all for the info. I talked to triumph cust. service, they also suggested smart tabs. I installed them (took about 25 minutes) and the porpoising problem is solved.

Glad to hear everything worked out. When you get the chance, could you please post some pictures of your install so others may benefit from your experience?

Thanks and tight lines.
