Listing to Port

I Have A F50 Yamaha Pushing A 150cc. My Boat Has A List To Port And Im Guessing Adjusting The Trim Tab Above The Prop May Help. Does This Trim Tab Act As A Rudder Or An Upward Thruster. If I Put The Tab Leading Edge About 10 Degrees To The Left Will It Then Lift The Port Side To Level Or Will It Steer The Boat More To The Right. Thanks For Your Help. Bill

Does it have a list when running (yet will still track straight) or is it more of a direction issue of letting go of the helm and it start "turning" on it's own?

Bill,
There are several related topics and threads in the 150 section with others who have had this issue and none (from what I read) had any constants or single fixes. Many though sound very close to your listing issue, and I would read though all of them and see which scenario and fix sounds the closest to your current problem

Now once you do get a fix on your issue here, let me know so I can edit the thread title to something like "Listing to Port" so future new members can read how you fixed yours also This way our knowledge base (for this model) keeps growing and growing, but we have to remember that all the information in the world is useless IF one can't find it when needed

Thanks!
Dave

Hi Dave-i Did Read All The Threads On The 150cc Site And Your Right. Not Much On Difinitive Answers. I Suspect This Trim Tab Has Little To Do With Any Of This And I Also Suspect The Bottom Of The Boat, Which I Have Discussed In Other Threads, Is The Major Culprit. The Strakes Are Not Even Close To Being Square With Each Other And I Suspect The Other Members May Have The Same Problem. If The Strakes Are Not Perfectly Aligned With Each Other Water Passing Under Them Will Cause The Boat To Swing Left Or Right. I Have E-mailed Triumph About This Today And Have Not Heard Back Yet. I Will Keepthe Members Informed When I Do Here From Them. Thanks For Your Input.bill

I had this problem on a different boat a few years ago. You see it more on the smaller boats. If it sits correctly in the water and only lists when under power, it is most likely the torque from the engine causing it. You can try to counter balance it by loading more weight to the starboard side or you can install trim tabs to level it out under power. If you think it's a hull problem instead, talk to your dealer and have it fixed. Let us know how you make out.

Boat List To Port

To Puttershark-as Promised I Have The Answer To Das Boat Listing To Port. Apparently Triumphs Mold Has A Built In Stern Planer On Both Sides. Sometimes The Mold Doesnt Make Both Sides Even And You Get A Port Or Starboard List As The Water Runs Under The Boat. The Mechanic At Modern Discount Marine Just Told Me Triumph Engineers Will Give Him The Amount To Taken Off,in My Case The Starboard Side, To Allow The Port Side Planer To Be Longer And Therefor Will Lift The Boat Up On The Port Side. Seems Like Engineering 101 But Well See When I Get The Boat Back.bill

Glad to see you secured some kind of answer on "Das Boat" Bill and keep me updated. I also edited the thread title so we have this one as a great future reference on this possible 150CC issue for both current and future members Now that is how you build a ever improving knowledge base for sure

Thanks again Bill!
