Question Holes in my hull?

I have a 2005 150CC with a 50hp Yamaha, which I purchased in February 2006. Living in upstate New York, on Lake Ontario I have not had a chance to do much with the boat except look at it as it sits in my driveway covered with it's winter tarp. Spring is still a a few weeks away for us.

I dropped my car keys on the ground yetserday, and as I bent over to pick them up, I noticed two holes in the forward section of my hull. They look like they are are moulded right into the hull behind a strake and under the forward fishboxes. I did get 4 drain plugs with the boat, 2 black plastic threaded ones with red washers and two brass and rubber with a snap lock on them. From what I have been reading here and on other sites, I figure the 2 black plastic ones are for the transom, as there are two threaded holes there too....one centerline and one a few inches to the right of that. I didn't know what the two brass plugs were for untill now...I think. I am guessing that they are to plug up those two holes in the hull. Am I right,? and am I supposed to install them from the inside- out or outside - in??

I have never owned a trailerable boat till now, and certainly never one with thru-hull fittings without seacocks.
I will not be trailering this boat at all, it will be sitting in a slip at a marina from April 15th through October 15th. Also, I don't fish...so would it be better to have these holes sealed up permanently?

I am totally confused about the water retention problems I have been reading about.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

The holes are from the forward fish boxes...they drain right through the hull. Your plugs go in the drains from inside the fish boxes. Come on spring!!!!

Albaris-cagrove Is Right. The Two Holes Are For Draining The Forward Fish Compartment. Even If You Were To Remove The Plugs The Water Would Fill The Fish Compartment Only To The Top And Then Stop. To Drain, Forward Motion Of The Boat Will Drain Them. Sorry You Guys Are So Cold Up North. It Has Been Cold Here In So. Florida. Only 75 Degrees.

Al,
I would not recommend sealing the fish box drain holes, rain, dew moisture, and water from washing the boat will still collect in the box(not alot of water, but enough). You will need some way to drain that water.

Cagrove, CapeCodder and Special K,
Thanks for your input...I now have an understanding of what to do with all those drain plugs.
Can't wait for spring to see if she floats!!

Thanks Again,
