How to service the bilge pump???

I've got the 150 CC and being a good size lad I find that I can't get my paw and forearm through the itsy bitsy hatch far enough to get to the pump.

The center strut (Transom brace) is right there in the way. So what now Ollie? Anyone have an idea or suggestion.

Other than cutting a really big hole in the back of your boat why not enlist the help of the Admiral or one of those deck hands that always seem to be around when you don't need them. You can "supervise"...the way any good Captain would to make sure it's done right. Just a thought.

Or...have you tried a pair of BBQ tongs to reach in there instead of your entire arm?

OK...I'm out of "thoughts"...good luck.

After sitting out there looking at it with a cup of coffee in hand today I decided that the fix is a larger hatch so I'll fabricate one here soon.

On my 190, removing the frame that holds the little hatch makes a world of difference when working on the bilge. Makes the hole just big enough to get your arm through.I don't know about the 170....
