LittleT, I had to delete the actual article but left the link. We can't republish and article without the permission of the original publisher. But links to articles are no problem at all. Thanks!

Good article, but read it again

Only the 215 and above are self-bailing.

I agree that you have a death wish going offshore in anything that is not self bailing.

With that said, I've been in the Gulf Steam once in my 215 and you could have been out there in a canoe, things change quick though

self bailing

The 195DC and CC are self bailing as well. A big selling point for me.

Yesterday I took my little 150CC on a 270 course about 12 miles off the Jaws (Mouth of Humboldt Bay) to the 100 fathom line and ran south 25 miles to Cape Mendocino looking for albacore, had the warm water, but no love on the tuna.

I then ran inside to the beach got a limit of nice fat rockfish for dinner and then kicked it in the butt and ran the 25+ miles back up the hill to Eureka.

83.9 miles by the GPS and about 10-11 gallons of fuel by the gage.

Boy was I pooped.

Do you ever sit down to figure out just how much that fish dinner costs you? Me neither! It's all about the experience...the table fare is just a bonus!

I think I've about got the fish dinner down to a hundred bucks or so a pound now.

I Just recently compiled a spreadsheet for fuel, milage and fish taken and discovered that I've run 536 miles and averaged 8.67 mpg so far this season.

Since the winds are again turning the local ocean white I think I'll do a mid season PM on the boat and do oil, filter, prop and lower unit oil just to be safe.
