Help wanted

Greetings to all,

I am on the market for a 150 CC or DC, new is better, slightly used is acceptable. Any advice in this matter is appreciated.

A few local dealers (non-Triumph) questioned the durability of the hull. One said something about melting, another mentioned a crack on a three-year old. A dealer from Connecticut called it a cheap boat with low resale.
It would be great to hear from somebody with the first-hand experience.

I have a pretty vague idea about prices. A quote from a Lake George dealer was $8,500 for a 2002 150 DC which, according to him, has never been in water. A knowledge of a reputable and reasonable dealer would help.

I guess that's it for start, will probably have more questions when I get some answers.

Thanks

150 help

gnm2140,

I have a '02 150Fish that has been a fantastic purchase to date . It is the single console versus dual or center you are looking at but I actually felt it gave me more room to fish and move around the boat. I keep mine on the trailer and love the fact that there is so little to maintain and cleaning is easy (washdown).

Too bad you are so far away...mine is up for sale due to house construction costs.

I think the price is a little steep from the dealer but it depends on what is included. I purchased my boat in '03 as a new '02 model with a Yamaha 50 2 stroke for the same money as you are talking. I added a fish finder and Minn Kota 55AP (autopilot model) trolling motor after purchase.

Overall, very happy with the boat and hate to sell it. I had some interest but to be honest it is hard to sell something you don't really want to see go. I only have about 20 hours on the boat but have had zero problems.

Help received

Thank you for the input, JBM150 and jpakowski. I have an idea now. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I am a good negotiator.
A dealer from Mohawk Valley Marine quoted $9300 for a 2004 150 cool with 40 HP Mercury and doesn't go any lower.
There is one in Salisbury NC, Carolina Boat Center, 2003 150 CC with 2002 4 stroke Yamaha for $7,500. Is it too good to be true? I understand that Triumphs are manufactured in NC. Is it possible that those guys are selling some kind of a new but defective boat?
Just one more question. Should I continue looking now or call it quit and resume my search in the spring?

Thanks again,
Greg

Carolina Boat Center

GNM2140,

Triumph had a program with a couple of dealers to sell its stock of b grade hulls...they did not come with the lifetime hull warranty but I do not believe the guys at Carolina Boat Center were involved. I don't think they continue to carry Triumph though so you may be seeing a clearance price. I would contact them if you are interested as they are good folks and you might even get it shipped to you for less than your local pricing.

If you are interested in the Fish model with the front fishing chair, depth finder and trolling motor...I've got a great NC deal!

JBM150,

I appreciate your involvement and your offer. 150 Fish is not exactly what I am looking for. I am not into fishing at all, I need something more recreational. For some reason I am fixed on CC (looks more like a real yacht) or Cool, but if I change mind and your boat is still available, we'll discuss it.

Thanks
