150 DC/50 TLRA Performance

Greetings to all.
Am I the only one with a 15-footer? Anyway, this is my first boat, and it is pulled by a Subaru, so the size is right.
The motor is in the break-in period. I put the boat in the water last weekend for the first time, and I am not clear if the engine/shifter behave right. When I move the shifter, for about 1/3 of the shift nothing happens to RPM, at about 2/3 of the shift RPM goes to 2000, sometimes it would rise from 1500 to 2000 without me moving the shifter, and it looks like with the shifter almost at the end it is not going above 3000.
My problem is that the dealer is three hours away.
Your input is appreciated.
Greg

My throttle cables along with most I've ever used do not have the same response that you would expect from a car in the initial 50% from N to F or R. That being said, I would expect you to be able to get to WOT. Wait until after your break-in period and test WOT with the motor trimmed all the way down. And then begin to trim the motor out to the point just before the prop begins to ventalate. That RPM should be your max. If not, then it may be because of inproperly adjusted cables at the motor or the wrong prop size.

Another thing to look for: Do you have digital guages? My dealer obviously did not know squat about digital guages because he never set up the dip switches on the back properly. Consequently the tach never registered above 3000 rpm. Once I reset the switches the tach reported correctly.

Thank you, guys. I will go through the break-in period and then start to worry. By the way, what is WOT (still learning)?
